In his Davis Cup debut, JTCC alumnus Denis Kudla led Team USA in the qualifying round of 2023 Davis Cup competition with a dominating sweep over the hosting nation of Uzbekistan.
Kudla, cruised to a 6-4, 6-4 win in 52 minutes over 17-year-old Amir Milushev to complete the Americans’ 4-0 triumph sealing Team USA’s bid to compete as one 16 teams in the Group Stage in September.
Team USA did not drop a set under interim captain David Nainkin. Joining Kudla representing Team USA were Australian Open semifinalist Tommy Paul, Rajeev Ram, and fellow Davis Cup rookies Austin Krajicek and Mackenzie McDonald.
The United States is the winningest nation in Davis Cup history with 32 titles and is seeking to claim its first championship since 2007.
