Aug 6, 2021

Laurel Springs School

The Wayne K. Curry Prince George’s County International Hard Court Junior Tennis Championships presented by Laurel Springs School returns to JTCC for its ninth edition from August 23 – 28.

One of three of the highest level ITF Junior events in North America, the 64-draw tournament will be held during the prestigious week before the US Open, providing an exceptional opportunity for top level juniors around the world to prepare for the Junior US Open.

The College Park tournament has hosted notable ATP stars as they rose through the ranks as juniors, including world #2 Daniil Medvedev and #4 Stefanos Tsitsipas. Among the memorable highlights is the 2015 final between Canadians Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime, currently ranked world #10 and #15, respectively.

The girls’ brackets have also been equally impressive, such as world #4 Sofia Kenin, teen sensation Coco Gauff, and doubles standout Caty McNally, among others.

JTCC has historically been well-represented in the main draw of the Grade 1 ITF including Frances Tiafoe, whose career-high ranking to date is #29 on the ATP Tour, and rising 16-year-old WTA star Robin Montgomery who won the doubles in 2019.

Preceding the ITF Junior main draw are the Qualifying and Wild Card tournaments offering a path to earn spots in the main draw. The 64-draw Qualifying tournament will be held August 20-22 with eight players accepted into the ITF main draw. The Wild Card tournament is a 32-draw USTA Sectional tournament held August 16-18 in which the champions of both the boys’ and girls’ singles draw receive entries into the ITF main draw. Registration for the Wild Card tournament closes August 11 at 6 pm.  To register, click here.

See the next superstars on the ATP and WTA Tours! All events are free to attend for spectators.
