JTCC Senior Coach, Assaf Yamin, has a wealth of experience at the high performance level with numerous credentials and stamps in his passport to boot. As a player and as a coach, he has been to more than 40 countries and has been to all 4 Junior Grand Slams on multiple occasions. Since 2007, Assaf has been to nearly 150 international tournaments including Tennis Europe (14&U), ITF (Juniors, Men’s and Women’s), WTA and ATP. He was also the national Israeli coach for the Grand Slam junior team, European Championships (Individual & Team), youth Olympic coach and Fed Cup assistant coach.
Assaf leverages this experience in his day to day operations as a coach. “Traveling all over the world helped me tremendously to become a better tennis coach” says Assaf. “It allowed me to open up to many different types of coaching styles in many different cultures. Since every player is so unique it’s important to have various strategies and have the ability to resort to different coaching styles in order to best help them. Being able to adjust from player to player is key and ensures the player is on the track to success. That’s where my experience comes into play and I use it as an asset.”
JTCC Director Vesa Ponkka affirms that adding Assaf to JTCC’s team helps put the program on the global map. “JTCC is already regarded as the best junior developmental training center in the United States. Our goal for the next 5 years is to become the best training center in the world” says Ponkka. “Assaf’s networking abilities, high performance coaching expertise, comprehensive knowledge of international tennis operations, and fantastic professional reputation drives us closer to that goal.”
