We are committed to involving our players in community service and volunteerism.
Our Community Service often takes the form of student-to-student coaching and
peer mentoring. Studies have shown that peer mentoring is one of the most
effective ways to reinforce positive behavior. Students also give back to the
program in other ways including administration, letter writing, maintenance and
fundraising. Community Service is not an option, it’s a requirement for all students.
Some of the ways the Champions Center players give back:
On-Site Maintenance-
Most of the community service completed by Champions Center
students is done on-site at The Tennis Center at College Park. Students
are responsible for picking up after themselves and are required to keep
their “home” clean. On a given day you will see our students planting flowers,
hanging pictures, sweeping the walkways, and keeping the facility clean.
Peer Mentoring-
Student to student coaching can take place on and off the court.
Players in the Champions Program mentor and guide younger members to help
them improve their tennis game and help them build character. Off the court students
assist each other in school through tutoring and other academic support.
