The Future Champions Program is offered in the Fall and Spring semesters for players ages 13 and up.

 

The program is designed for players who are committed to high-performance training but are limited due to school schedule. The program consists of tennis, fitness training, and college prep counselling with an option to add SAT Prep course. 

The program is led by JTCC’s Director of Future Champs Taka Bertrand, former member of the Vanderbilt University Women’s Tennis Team, and a former coach at the three nationally-ranked NCAA Division I and III programs.

The Future Champions Program has a well-balanced curriculum offering comprehensive tennis and fitness training with 2-4 practice sessions per week on both hard and clay courts. Future Champs adds an important education component to its curriculum,  an SAT Prep course that will help players to prepare for their college entrance exams. In addition players will access to JTCC College prep counselling, which helps players to find the best fit for their collegiate tennis goals.

Summer Training

 

There are 11 weeks of summer training beginning in mid June and concluding in late August. Most JTCC players attend at least six summer camp weeks.  Summer sessions consist of drills, match play, fitness, and mental training. Summer training is strongly encouraged. 

 

 

 

 

Fitness

Fitness training consists of on court speed and agility, strength and endurance training, tennis specific footwork  and balance exercises, and dynamic and static stretching for flexibility and injury prevention. All fitness will be incorporated into on court training.

Players are tested in specific speed, strength, and agility settings to monitor their development throughout the year.
