WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., November 13, 2013 – The USTA today announced that University of Virginia junior and Junior Tennis Champions Center alum Mitchell Frank (Annandale, Va.) and UCLA junior Robin Anderson (Matawan, N.J.) are among the top American college tennis players selected to represent the United States in the eighth annual Master’U BNP Paribas international collegiate team competition held November 29-December 1 in Aix-en-Provence, France.

Frank, the 2013 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American champion and former top-ranked college singles player will be joined on the men’s side by UCLA junior Marcos Giron (Thousand Oaks, Calif.), ranked No. 553 on the ATP World Tour, and 6-foot-7 Ohio State senior Peter Kobelt (New Albany, Ohio), a 135-mph server ranked No. 3 in the ITA’s preseason rankings.

Joining Anderson, ranked No. 2 by the ITA in the preseason and a finalist in both this year’s Riviera/ITA All-American Championship and the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship, are USC junior Sabrina Santamaria (Los Angeles), the ITA’s top-ranked preseason women’s singles player, and Georgia junior Lauren Herring (Greenville, N.C.), ranked No. 3.

Boise State men’s coach Greg Patton and California women’s coach Amanda Augustus will coach the Master’U team together for the second straight year. Patton has coached the Master’U team for five of the six consecutive years the U.S. has competed.

The U.S. will compete against teams from Belgium, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and Russia in a bracket-style team competition, with each match consisting of two men’s and two women’s singles matches, one women’s and one men’s doubles match and a mixed doubles match.

Last year, the U.S. won its third Master’U title, the others coming in 2011 and 2009. Previous Master’U team members include Steve Johnson, Irina Falconi and Maria Sanchez.
