JTCC alums set to compete in ITA National Team Indoor Championships

Sixteen teams will vie for the ITA National Women’s Team Indoor Championship title this weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia.  Tournament play will kickoff tomorrow at 9:00 AM EST.  All matches will be played at The Boar’s Head Sports Club.

First round matchups include:

-Duke (2) v. Baylor at 9:00 AM

-Alabama (7) v. Northwestern at 9:00 AM

-Defending Champion UCLA (1) v. Vanderbilt at Noon

Sophmore and JTCC alum Skylar Morton will team up with Robin Anderson in doubles play.  Morton, a 2011 JTCC graduate, was a key contributor to the Bruins’ run to the 2011 NCAA Team Final.  The UCLA squad is undefeated this season and boast four nationally-ranked singles players.  They are poised to defend their crown this weekend.

-Miami (8) v. Nebraska at Noon

-North Carolina (6) v. Texas A&M at 3:30 PM

-USC (3) v. Virginia at 3:30 PM

As the host institution, the Cavaliers earned an automatic spot in the tournament.  In their only match this season, they defeated No. 47 VCU, 5-2.  Junior Marjorie Baker (JTCC alum) will be part of the squad attempting to upset third-seeded USC.

-Georgia (4) v. Texas at 6:30 PM

-Cal (5) v. Michigan at 6:30 PM

The Wolverines are currently ranked No. 16 nationally and have garnered victories against three top 70 teams this season (No. 67 Brown, No. 30 South Carolina and No. 25 Tennessee).  Amy Zhu, a freshman and JTCC graduate, will play singles.
