Searching For Champions

The first objective is to reach out in Prince Georges County, one of the most diverse regions in the United States, boasting a multi cultural population of Asian, Hispanic, African American, and Caucasian residents. We seek to introduce the sport of tennis to as many youngsters as possible. We reflect the community we serve within our staff demographics as well.

Our goal is to introduce these children to tennis and fund their year-round participation. Our mission is fulfilled when these young student-athletes secure a college scholarship.

Our second objective of “Searching for Champions” is to give selected participants at our Tennis Festivals the opportunity to continue their participation in our programs. We give these children free vouchers to attend entry-level summer tennis programs. We know that if we make tennis fun, we will keep kids playing.

Our final objective in “Searching for Champions” is to invite children to join the Champions Program. The Champions Center program prices are subsidized. Families who cannot afford the cost of our program are given financial aid. This way we are able to offer our services to children from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. In our program, community service is not an option. We believe that giving back is part of being a Champion.

The ultimate success of “Searching for Champions” is measured over the years, as we track a child from the local community that has come through our tennis festival outreach efforts, played tennis in our entry level summer mini-camp, and gone on to join the Champions program.
